To Those Crossing Over, Lean into the Wave

This week the Lord has been stirring me around part of a dream I had on 5/17/23. I feel like this dream and the word in it are being sealed up in my heart as language that forever shapes the way we navigate “crossing over” into new seasons and territory. Not just for us, but to receive the language of heaven that helps us to be living arrows that point people toward the divine invitations of God in their lives to move into the MORE no matter what it costs.

In the dream, we were coming over a big, suspended bridge and there were many people and some cars who were starting to cross. They were just walking unsuspecting thinking that crossing would just be as simple as walking or driving across. But as I started to walk with people all around me, I saw that this wasn’t a bridge to avoid water below but a bridge that could only be traversed by going through an enormous wave of water that was moving toward us and covering the other side of the bridge with rushing water. I kept walking with my kids and calmly instructed my kids to simply hold their breath. But when I looked around me, I saw that many were completely unprepared to have to go through the water. Anyone in a car had to get out to go through. They couldn’t just “ride it out”. Many felt completely disoriented, not only because of the wild movement of the rushing water but because their minds weren’t prepared to be able to reconcile what they expected with what they were experiencing. I remember a large man next to me who became overwhelmed in the wave. I tried to reach over to help him but there was something about this bridge that required people to lean in for themselves. No one could ride anyone’s coat tails. The bridge itself required a baptism that required us to let go of anything that wasn’t supposed to cross with us. While I felt the undertow and there was a lot going on around me, I felt complete peace and expectancy because I knew this wave was FOR us, that it was crucial and that we wouldn’t be able to walk in the way without it.

So many have felt unsettled and there’s been an antsy yearning to cross over into the new and become established in a new season, but the Lord’s saying, “There’s only one way through. You don’t know the strangle hold the fear of death has had on your mind and heart. To those who lean into the wave, there is a freedom and joy being restored to move with Me from a place of confidence and rest. Many want the feeling of assurance without the childlike trust it requires. Many want the freshness of a new day without the death that’s required to enter in, but resurrection belongs to those who will stop shirking death. Those willing to trade self-preservation for a fresh baptism of fire will enter into greater place of abiding and fruitfulness as they REMAIN in me.”

The Lord’s releasing a fresh revelation of our union with Christ in his death and resurrection so that we’d become unwilling to hold onto anything that encumbers us.

I hear men and women, kids, young and old, whispering, “Jesus, whatever it costs, I’m in. You’re worth it. You’re worth it. You’re worth it all.” God’s taking their whispers of surrender and turning them into shock waves that will stun the darkness and release the sound of heaven on the earth with new measures of weight and glory.

Yes, God. Here we are.

“Or do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus have been baptized into His death? Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in the newness of life. For if we have become united with Him in the likeness of His death, certainly we shall also be in the likeness of His resurrection, knowing this that our old self was crucified with Him, in order that our body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be slaves to sin; for he who has died is freed from sin.” Romans 6:3-7 NASB

“And when that which is mortal puts on immortality, and what now decays is exchanged for what will never decay, then the Scripture will be fulfilled that says: ‘Death is swallowed up by a triumphant victory! So death, tell me, where is your sting?’ It is sin that gives death its sting and the law that gives sin its power. But we thank God for giving us the victory as conquerors through our Lord Jesus, the Anointed One. So now, beloved ones, stand firm, stable and enduring. Live your lives with an unshakable confidence. We know that we prosper and excel in every season by serving the Lord, because we are assured that our union with the Lord makes our labor productive with fruit that endures.” 1 Corinthians 15:54-58 TPT

“Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfector of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider Him who has endured such hostility by sinners against Himself, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.” Hebrews 12:1-3

“Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit.” John 12:24
