The Lord is saying, "Come up here."
This is a “Come up here” season.
On 3/31, the Lord started talking to me about disorientation.
The dictionary defines disorientation as “a state of confusion especially as to time, place or identity often as a result of disease or drugs.”
The confusion that’s been unleashed in our time is meant to hinder people from the revelation of Christ, His Kingdom and God’s place for them in it. For the lost, it’s to keep people in darkness. For those who have already seen the light, this confusion is in direct opposition to the orientation God is doing in His bride and in the earth to ready her to fully step into this next season. In both cases, confusion seeks to lock people into anxiety and assumption. Survival mode and spinning mode. In survival mode, energy goes to staying afloat. In spinning mode, activity is confused with growth. Like a wheel spinning in deep mud, there’s no traction and no forward motion.
Although we live in a time where so many are feeling this disorientation, any time God highlights dysfunction, it’s to bring revelation of Himself and His kingdom to bear on the topic so that we can come into alignment with His heart which always leads us in triumph as He defines it (2 Corinthians 2:14).
I asked the Lord what was the answer for disorientation. His answer: “Come up here.”
I knew this phrase immediately as coming from Revelation 4:1-2: “And the voice I had first heard speaking to me like a trumpet said, ‘Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after this.’ At once I was in the Spirit, and there before me was a throne in heaven with someone sitting on it.”
Although this passage is John telling his story of receiving revelation from the Lord, this is a divine invitation for all of us who’ve been made alive in Christ and surrendered to His Lordship. We are seated with Christ in heavenly places. (See Ephesians 2:4-10)
God’s Heart for Us
We will not be able to effectively step into this next era without direct orientation by the Holy Spirit.
Have you ever gone through an orientation at a new school or job? Such an orientation helps you understand where you are, what is the culture and standards of that place, and everything you need to know to get started and become established as an employee or student.
Well, God is wanting to establish us in this season. That often looks very different than what we expect. We expect our figurative house to be growing to find ourselves standing before a house of cards that collapses in the wind. God is revealing the substitutes, often we didn’t even know we had. He’s a really good Father so He shows us places in our foundation that are not built upon Him.
“By the grace of God has given me, I laid a foundation as a wise builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should build with care. For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. If anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, their work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each person’s work. If what has been built survives, the builder will receive a reward. If it is burned up, the builder will suffer loss yet be saved - even though only as one escaping through the flames.” 1 Corinthians 3:10-15
The God of all mercy is building us with sturdier materials. Because to the quality and measure we allow Him to build in us will be the quality and measure of what He can build through us.
To those in the kingdom grappling for a sense of identity, place and season, you will not find it outside the Image of the One we’re called to behold. Clarity is a gift, but intimacy is essential. We won’t bear fruit without it (John 15).
My heart aches for those seeking clarity around the “whats” and “hows” above intimacy with the One who holds our frame together. There’s an illusion that if God just handed us the map to show us the way, we’d be golden. “We’ve got it from here.” But we do not “have it from here.” It’s in intimacy and in the beholding that we become the people who can follow His voice and not be moved to the right or left. Creation is groaning for the manifestation of sons, not the manifestations of good plans or empty accomplishment. The Lord is unsettling us from anything less than lives yielded wholly to Him. But oh, the honor we have in beholding Him!
“But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.” 2 Corinthians 3:18
God is raising up a generation (across all ages) who are being schooled in how to live from the counsel of His eye.
See Psalm 32:8. I like how the Passion Translation puts it, “I hear the Lord saying, ‘I will stay close to you, instruction and guiding you along the pathway of your life. I will advise you along the way and lead you forth with my eyes as your guide.”
I saw an old radio and I heard, “I’m tuning your eyes to the frequency of my gaze.”
“It’s not that there’s not other noise riding on the radio waves, but I’m unlocking an ability in you to live from what I see, what I say and what I’m doing. In my frequency, there is no competition because when you’re tuned in with me, my Word is your bread and supply. Why settle for crumbs when you’re meant for overflow? Feast on me and you’ll find Wisdom growing inside of you. Feast on me and I will establish your paths. Feast on me and I’ll empower you to release the solutions of heaven in your spheres of influence. Your greatest breakthroughs hinge on finding me as your Great Reward.”
